The Victorian-style Haupt Conservatory

Photograph by George Steinmetz @geosteinmetz / @thephotosociety Built in 1902, the Victorian-style Haupt Conservatory was inspired by the Palm House at the Royal Botanic Garden at Kew, in London. The largely glass-and-steel structure is a testament to the technology of the Industrial Revolution placed in service to an aristocratic ideal of luxury—that plants might be grown in any climate—and made available to all.
